Wateree Recreation Area is located in the heart of South Carolina’s Olde English District, where the three large river systems, Pee-Dee, Catawba-Wateree and Broad, that once brought in settlers, now lure campers, picnickers and fishermen alike!

Situated on a peninsula of 25 pristine wooded acres, Wateree Recreation Area is designed for the recreational enjoyment of all authorized DoD customers, from civilians to retirees to active duty and their family members. Come up and rent a boat to catch some catfish or bass or to just tour the lake and relax on the water.

Reservations may be made 120 days in advance by active-duty military members assigned to Shaw Air Force Base, 90 days in advance by other active duty members, and 60 days in advance by all other authorized users. All cabin rentals are a 2-night stay minimum.

Wateree Recreation Area offers 11 two-bedroom cabins, four 3-bedroom cabins, and one 1-bedroom cabin. Each cabin is fully equipped with dishes, pots, pans, coffee makers, microwave ovens and TV.

The grounds also includes 22 recreational vehicle sites with 20/30/50 amp electric service, water and sewer hook-ups, tent camping and seasonal lake swimming. A 3,500-sq. ft. recreation hall with a kitchen for use by groups for private parties, conferences and special programs is available. Additionally, the park has a playground, fishing, boat docks, boat launch, 3 covered picnic pavilions, public bathhouse, picnic tables and barbecue grills. Ski boats, pontoon boats, SUPs, canoes and kayaks are also available for rent.

Wi-Fi is available for a small fee.
